Some readings (and listenings?)

Painting - Acrylic on Canvas

I've been slow in my process of putting together the circles, partially torn between my writing and painting practices besides the circle work. A larger, looming reason has been my own struggle with the ableist paradigm that worms through my thoughts. This morning, I was finally able to attend a peer support space for Disability based in Florida (after 3 months of feeling like my experience is not valid!) Reading and listening to podcasts has been helping me immensely in coming to terms with my own neurodivergence, as well as learning to reframe my experiences in a compassionate and inclusive way. Here are some resources from the work I've been up to -

Neurodivergence

Please note that some titles may be dated and use terms that I don't agree with/ have outgrown through my readings. Triggers may include the use of Asperger's and Disorder, and I acknowledge the problem of pathologising neurodiversity as well as using eugenics-based terminology. I did appreciate the practical advice, terminology aside.

Divergent Mind by Jenara Nerenberg

Aspergirls by Rudy Simone

Feminist, Queer, Crip by Alison Kafer

Women and Girls with Autism Spectrum Disorder by Sarah Hendrickx

The Neurodiversity Podcast

Self Care and Activism of Rest

Wintering by Katherine May

Laziness does not exist by Devon Price

How to Do Nothing by Jenny O'Dell

Books I want to read but haven't gotten to yet

I'll keep updating this list as I go through them.

Neurotribes by Steve Silberman

Care Work by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha

The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk

Pretending to be Normal by Liane Holliday Willey

The autistic Brain by Temple Grandin

Please do share any readings or resources you have, and I will add them to this list. Thank you!
