SINGLENESS IS NOT A WAITING ROOM

Contrary to how many people think singleness is not a place to be stagnant, life is meant to be experienced. Singleness shows that there is more to life than marriage. Singleness is pointing you towards the most important thing in life, relationship with God the creator of the universe and tender loving father for all who trust in and follow him.

I realize that many of you are the exact same position as myself. You’re single and you have no idea when, or if, marriage will be in your future. I get it. I get the singleness. I get the struggles. I get the longing for marriage. I get the wondering if you’ll be single forever. Even as I write this, I honestly struggle sometimes with this season of singleness that I’m in because it’s not where I saw myself four years ago. It often feels like I’ve been single for seventy years. (smiles) No pun intended.

Sometimes I get discouraged.

Sometimes I get tired of waiting.

And sometimes I get angry and frustrated with myself because I feel like I’m bad at dating (and I’m forever doomed to be an awkward, single mess) … I get all those feelings. I can relate to you.

But whenever I feel like I just can’t take it anymore, I get on my knees, I look to the Father and He reminds me of a few things that I will share with you as you read this. He reminds me that this season of singleness is not an elaborate method of torture. It’s, instead, a season of preparation.

Dear Reader,

This writing has been on my heart for quite some time after I had 18 hours personal retreat with God without human interaction. Oh, what a feeling! Lord takes me deeper I want more of these feelings. If you are single, this eBook is specifically for you. Being single is a calling, not a characteristic. The primary aspect of a Christian’s identity the thing that makes us who we are is our oneness with Jesus Christ, which is solidly established and immovable. We are characterized by God’s love for us. In Christ, we are appreciated, cherished, absolved, welcomed, given a purpose, and given authority.
