Janette at age 36 did not know the name of the pain she was going through until she came across Actors of GBV like myself.

A mother Of 5 boys with a good job and living with her husband who torments her just because she couldn’t give him one female.

i begin to wonder if women choose the babies and put in their wombs and call it male or female!!

she had never planned having five kids this only happened because she was in search of a baby girl to make the husband happy. She gave birth to the first child he was so happy and said she should give him a female as second when it’s time for another

The second was still male. He was kind of happy until when she took in for the third pregnancy the scan showed it was still a boy! As she narrated, that day from the hospital she got so confused and knew if she went home with such results she was in trouble. She finally took courage went home ans showed her husband the scan. He tore it right before her into pieces asking her never to bring such results again to him and now warmed her to start sharing her room with the kids while he slept in the living room all alone

he didn’t eat her food nor talk to her and would only respond to her with insults or a slap She would cry and cry and go to work late

Mahé finally put to birth in that condition where her husband didn’t accompany her during l’abortif the hospital and even after she had the baby. She went home with the baby after using her own money to pay her maternity bills and met him in that same mood. Imagine arriving home with a new born and the father of the newborn has no interest to see nor touch the child

what in the world did that innocent child do? Did he invite himself to this world? Was it a crime being male ?? These questions were left unanswered in the mind of Janette

one day he decided to forgive her as he would say and started talking and helping her out with the baby. When she took in for the fourth she went through same hell and he had to pack out and only came home to check on his dogs and feed them. This was too much to bear and Janette promised herself that was the last pregnancy she ever had.

family members had to intervene and they both got back together in good terms. One day he got so drunk and came back and forced her to sex and she got pregnant again and only found out when the pregnancy was Three months old and she was scared to announce it. She fell sick and was always in the hospital from time to time. When she gave birth it was a boy again and when the news reached her husband he called and asked her to leave the hospital straight to her mothers house and not to his house and that he would bring her belongings to her when she’s finally with her mom. And as he said that was exactly what she did

She came across a GBV worker whom I happened to know ans he spoke to her and told her she was going through Violence and should be courageous

so I met with this humanitarian worker who had spoken to Janette and we took it upon ourselves And counselled the man who has finally accepted them back home and got back to his senses and now realised it’s not Janettes fault to have been giving him only male kids.
