Hope you are doing great. Can you believe we're already in the second week of 2023!? Amazing. God forbid you find yourself in the middle of the year with no clear goals or priorities. You would have wasted six months focusing on unimportant things!
Note there's is danger in not setting your priorities. I once read a story about the dangers of not establishing one's priorities. It's about the Titanic, the famous ship that sank on its maiden voyage, killing thousands. According to sources, the ship's designers prioritized the ship's decorations over its lifeboat capacity, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,500 passengers and crew members out of 2,240! More people would have survived if there were more lifeboats on the ship.
You may think the story is too extreme as an example, but you must admit that setting your priorities is essential!
Set your goals and prioritize your priorities if you want to avoid unnecessary setbacks this year. Goal setting, according to an article about Tony Robbins, a famous American, is "the process of identifying something you want to accomplish and establishing measurable objectives and timeframes to help you achieve it."
What do you hope to achieve this year? That is the crucial question. And I know you may be led to believe that it is a simple question to answer; after all, there are things in your life that you would like to improve, and those are admirable goals — get a better job, get a bigger vehicle, cut off friends who are holding me back — great goals! But is it time to go after them?
Are they long-term or short-term objectives? What difference do they make in the grand scheme of things? Are there life-changing goals you should be pursuing that you aren't even aware of!? How do you identify the important goals? That is the more important question. And I'll respond to it for you today — simply brainstorm your goals for success. Your goals, not anyone else's.
Here are 20 questions to help you brainstorm your success goals:
What exactly is my "why"?
What are my priorities and values?
What am I doing now? What exactly is reality?
What does my ideal life entail?
What would I want/do if money was not an issue?
What should I try that I'm afraid to try?
What do I want to accomplish, do, have, give, and/or experience in the next ten years?
What would I do and how would I live if I only had six months to live? What do I hope to have accomplished by that time?
What are the top 100 things I want to do/achieve before the end of my life?
What am I most passionate about?
What does my ideal life entail?
What would the state of my relationships be in 2023?
What volunteer opportunities do I intend to pursue?
What would my health look like?
What communities or groups would I join?
Where do I see my personal growth and development going?
What are my most proud accomplishments?
What will I be most sorry for? Do my goals excite me?
Am I willing to pay the price?
How many goals am I pursuing at the same time?
