Self discovery through writing

I grew up in Italy and developed an Italian entity and then move to Mexico to find out I didn’t even spoke the language of my own country. Everything seems strange, even family were people I couldn’t remember. Since that point, at the age of 9, I had to learn how to adapted to different situations and new people in my life. I learn to adapt to the continuum of change. My story is not full of tragedy or violation of my human rights. But, it was always changing in an instable way, forcing me to become in depended from a very early age. I think this is why I have always been conscious of the importance of justice and equity.

When I was in elementary school, I started with my classmates an ecological movement that aimed to protect the environment; we got together every week or every 15 days to clean the forest that was close to our houses. Other days we met and discussed how the pollution affected our lives. It was a great, honest and innocent idea but we didn’t found in any of the parents a serious support so eventually the movement vanished in time.

Later in high school and University I participated in projects to reconstruct communities or improve the conditions of local schools. I also participated in projects to facilitate the inclusion in society of orphan’s kids. Years later after I finished my bachelors in International Relation I started working for the Ministry of Social Development. It was here, where I really learned how every community can have access to basic services. I learned from gender equity, youth empowerment and social changed. It was a great school, a great place to grow as a professional of social change. I managed social projects that varied from education to economic development. It was at this ministry where I founded my cause, overcome poverty and ensure equal opportunities to all the individuals. It was through writing about poverty how I understood this issue and educates stakeholders and citizens about the causes and effects of poverty.

Writing has always been part of my professional life, but is until now that I am learning how writing can help me to leverage my personal development. This is the first time that I write from variety of topics and the first time I share my perspective in a public forum like World pulse platform. What I enjoy the most about this community is that I can connect with people from different backgrounds and learn from others experiences and cultures.I believe that diversity helps to find innovating solutions. More importantly, world pulse platform is way to empower my own voice. So far, it has been an interesting journey of self-discovery.
