As part of farm visit to learn about agroecology, Haki Nawiri Afrika organised a session to discuss seed sovereignty.&nbsp; The forum took place in January 2023 , was a forum for elaborating the importance of indigenous seeds , how having own seeds is a form of power , the Genetically Modified Organisms debate as well as relevance of seed banks in every household. The forum also involved experience sharing by elderly community members on seeds in the past including linkage between seed and healthy food, sustainable diets , culture , nutritional value and biodiversity&nbsp; enhancement.

In Africa seed savers and seed producers are mostly #women.&nbsp;
