Safe and Back ;-)

Hello Sisters!

I am sorry for ‘disappearing’ unexpectedly..I couldn’t submit the draft or final piece on time due to heavy flooding in my city. Usually the weather is dry 51 weeks a year, the rainfall this year was unusually high, mainly the poor drainage system contributed to the flooding.

It’s been raining for some weeks now, deluging few areas more or less. But the 25th Jan rainfall entirely submerged the city. My sister nearly drowned as she tried to come home from work, my mom reached home just on time. The whole event left me shaken; there are still areas where people are stranded inside their homes without food, water or electricity.

I am closely working with a small group of dedicated friends and NGO’s – it’s a race against time.

The turmoil in Egypt is distressing for us, as well. I have Egyptian friends whom I studied with, they are now in cairo studying in universities and I can’t contact few of them. There’s a large, local Egyptian community here, they are extremely concerned too.

Some of you did try to contact me, I am sorry I couldn’t reply all the messages. I wrote a draft earlier but I lost it! I guess my file wasn’t ‘saved’ and I closed the document in a hurry. I had to write 2000 words again.

That was really painful ;- (

I can’t wait to read your inspiring pieces! I am sure I haven’t read most of them. Sigh……

Here’s the final piece, http://www.worldpulse.com/node/34035

Thanks to my mentors Jana & Maura for supporting me throughout the ordeal ;- )
