inspired to act and make a better world roots to that moment I realized that i am enabled to enable the vulnerable members of the society realize their full potential more so in enjoying their human rights, this became a great inspiration in my activism. I could be silent anymore when there are already so many muted voices suffering of injustices in my community. the most painful story is someone suffering and not having an ear to listen to nor a shoulder to lean on. as a peacebuilding facilitator for several years i could clearly see a big gap in speaking to widows whose rights has been denied, widows who have been forcibly driven out of their matrimonial properties and languishing in poverty yet the community and leadership are silent in condemning such acts of inhumanity.
Nandi women Network as a CBO was formed by women who saw the need to stand up for the voiceless widows and women who were suffering and thus began acting as a true friend to advocate for justice and access to justice to them. apart from that Nandi women CBO continues to carry our awareness and sensitization forums to enable rural widows and women affected by injustice to come up and develop courage to seek justice. the organization has seen more than 50 widows in the past 2 years successfully receive their properties that had been taken by their perpetrators and others reinstated back to their matrimonial properties.
we are envisioning a future when widows rights shall no longer be debatable but acceptable to all.
