Empowering and protecting young women/girls against SGBV and helping girls who have been raped to overcome the trauma of Sexual and Gender Based Violence.
Rape and other forms of Sexual and Gender Based Violence is a big challenge that is so rampant in Delta State, Nigeria. This menace which can be termed a pandemic within the COVID-19 pandemic reduce self esteem of girls, destroy future plans of girls, leads to early pregnancy, with crude abortion leads to death of girls , and leads to infection and other terminal diseases and stops educational opportunities thus destroys the future of the girl child.
Knowledge of how and where it happens as a result of the baseline survey carried out recently using three out of the twenty five Local Government Areas of Delta State, leads us to start this project in partnership with ten other community based organizations working around eliminating gender based violence amongst girls and young women.: Sensitization, counseling and assertive skills sessions with these young ladies.Training and mindset reorientation.
Secondly, Empowering young married women facing challenges of domestic Violence as a result of poverty to become economically balanced to enable respect by husband and children.: For these group, we need livelihood Support programs and startup for them.
Thirdly, empowering women facing obnoxious Cultural widowhood practice's overcome the ordeal and empowering community women leaders to stop implementing identified obnoxious Cultural widowhood practices.: For this group we need behavior change Sensitization and mindset reorientation town hall meetings and advocacy visits to traditional rulers and other community influencers. Also a shelter for thrown out widows
Protection for the elderly women.. especially, such that have no biological children...For this category I need a shelter home with care and support services for their wellbeing
