2011 — Anambra State House of Assembly

This marked an early stage of her direct participation in Nigerian electoral politics.

2012 — PDP National Women's Leadership

She contested for the position of National Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The contest reflected her early interest in women's political representation and leadership within Nigeria's political system.

2015 — APC Presidential Campaign

Uchegbu served as a media consultant to the APC media team during Muhammadu Buhari's 2015 presidential campaign.

Her journalism and communications background positioned her within the political media machinery of the campaign.

2017 — Anambra Governorship Politics

She contested the APC governorship primary process in Anambra State, further expanding her political experience.

2025 — Presidential Ambition

Uchegbu declared her ambition to contest for the President of Nigeria in the 2027 presidential election.

Her political vision became associated with The New Covenant.

2026 — Economic Policy Platform

In May 2026, Uchegbu publicly pledged to restore fuel subsidy and scrap harsh taxes as part of her proposed economic programme.

The May 3, 2026 publication on World Pulse records her declaration to restore fuel subsidy.

August 2026 — Fuel Subsidy Debate

Following Atiku Abubakar's adoption of fuel subsidy restoration as part of his 2027 campaign platform, Uchegbu publicly noted that she had made the same policy pledge months earlier.

New Telegraph, on August 22, 2026, reported that Uchegbu had publicly pledged in May 2026 to restore fuel subsidy if elected President.

SPY Nigeria also published the story on August 21, 2026, highlighting her earlier May 2026 position.

---

6. 2027 PRESIDENTIAL VISION

Uchegbu's 2027 presidential ambition is built around “The Mother's Care”

The concept represents a proposed renewed relationship between the Nigerian government and its citizens.

Its central principles include:

Service

Government should exist to serve citizens rather than political interests.

Accountability

Public resources should be managed transparently.

Economic Opportunity

Nigerians should have greater opportunities to work, build businesses and prosper.

Security

Citizens should be able to live, travel and conduct business without fear.

Human Dignity

Economic policies should take into account how government decisions affect ordinary families.

Women's Leadership

Women should have a genuine opportunity to compete for and occupy Nigeria's highest political offices.

Youth Development

Young Nigerians should be empowered through education, employment, entrepreneurship and innovation.

---

7. ECONOMIC POLICY

Fuel Subsidy

One of Uchegbu's most clearly documented recent policy positions is her promise to restore fuel subsidy.

In May 2026, she publicly announced:

“I Will Restore Fuel Subsidy, Scrap Harsh Taxes.”

The pledge was published online on May 3, 2026.

Her position was subsequently highlighted in August 2026 after Atiku Abubakar made restoration of petrol subsidy part of his 2027 campaign agenda.

Uchegbu's argument is that fuel prices affect much more than motorists.

They affect:

Transportation

Food distribution

Manufacturing

Small businesses

Household expenses

The general cost of living

She has nevertheless stressed that subsidy restoration should not mean unchecked government expenditure.

She advocates a system that is:

Transparent.

Accountable.

Sustainable.

Properly monitored.

Protected against corruption and leakages.

Her broader economic philosophy is that economic reform must have a human face.

---

8. WOMEN & POLITICAL LEADERSHIP

Women's participation in leadership is central to Uchegbu's political identity.

Her own political journey — from legislative and party contests to governorship politics and presidential ambition — reflects her belief that women should not merely participate in elections as voters, campaigners or supporters.

They should also compete for the highest offices.

In a 2025 interview, Uchegbu argued that the idea of leadership being a male preserve has failed Nigeria economically, morally and socially.

Her presidential ambition therefore represents both a personal political aspiration and an argument for greater female participation in Nigerian national leadership.
