POEM : Because I am a Woman

BECAUSE I AM A WOMAN!
They all ask: Why do you care?
You have it all, an education, a job and a caring family
My answer is simply:
Because I am a woman!
They ask: In your country there is no civil war
You are better off, why do you care?
I answer simply:
Because I am a woman!
I have no access to means of production
Because I am a woman,
I have to drop out earlier from school
Because I am a woman,
I have to fend for the family
Because I am a woman,
For years we have been ignored, abused, short-changed, trampled upon simply:
Because we are women
We now say enough is enough, united with one voice
Poor, Middle class, Rich it doesn’t matter
What matters is simply:
Because I am a woman!
Lets pool resources together become economically empowered,
Because we are women!
