In the first lockdown of 2020 in my country Uganda, stuck back in my home village, in my father's house ,having dug and almost finished all the desired fields of clearance. A question pops into my head how can I be relevant to this community where I was locked down from ??
Immediately after the uplifting in around May June( not sure of which month exactly), I went back to Kampala to my house,I already had a skill in making reusable pads which I had learnt from the FOWODE ( forum for women in democracy)22nd mentoring Camp.
I went and bought the material I need to have that baby steps takenIn August I reached out to 8 girls with my products known as shine reusable pads, and the rest is history today I have been able to reach over 2500 girls in the district of nakasongola ( central Uganda through schools out reaches, village gathers to offer a pair of shine reusable pads and a pack to sustain a girl in school and in their red daysTogether we can make the girls days shine with shine reusable pads(fb)
This has been possible through connection with local women leaders that have managed to identify those in greatest needs ,the vulnerable young women/teenage mothers ,and we have been able to preach the gospel of proper menstrual hygiene, staying in school, building girls self esteem, and also nurturing young women leaders through a project REDEFINING MY IDENTITY MENTORING CAMP, birthed by shine reusable padshttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064878334779&mibextid=ZbWKwL
