Connections
Out of the rock comes a flower untainted and blooming with a determination to defy all odds. One born in this world with endless possibilities can only hope that things align in their favour but resilience is a necessary ingredient in any one's diet if one is to overcome the challenges that might come along. Not everyone faces hardship but those who do develop a thickness of shell that aids them in running their races. But even they tend to break at times when faced with the storms.
I was born in a low income family and as such, many times we struggled to find food. My parents ensured we focused on getting a good education but do to financial challenges we did not achieve our optimum. I had motion sickness so I did not get to go on field trips in primary school. I also didn't have the funds to go. I lacked some books that were needed in my development and sometimes had to borrow.
I grew up mostly with my brothers and male neighbours and did most things I saw them doing. I always desired to have an image that showed me as strong and robust but even robust girls shed tears roo and many times I had to shed tears. I've been through abuse and assaults but I'm still alive today.
I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that all I've been through is to help someone else navigate. I have purpose and calling on my life and someone will benefit from my experiences. My message is one of hope as I've been to very low places in my life but I'm still here by God's grace.
I've struggled with suicidal thoughts and coping with difficulties but never attempted. I can say to just about anyone that it's good to have support. Whether it's from family, friends, church, organizations etc. You cannot do it alone as no man is an island.
I'm in a field where I impact lives everyday. The challenges are still there and sometimes it's hard to cope but i can tell you to never give up and never give in. Keep pushing past the obstacles in your life. You're not the first and you're not the last, always remember this too shall pass.
