Negotiations on African Position in Relation to Climate Change and Agriculture



The African Group of Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES) in collaboration with Kenya’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MEF) with support from the African Union Development Agency (AUDANEPAD), World Bank’s Supported Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA), Food and Agriculture organization of the United Nations (FAO), International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the Alliance of Biodiversity International and CIAT and the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) organised a Strategy Meeting and Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture between 2nd-4th March 2022 in Nairobi -Kenya.

The objective of the meeting was to consolidate an African Position in Relation to Climate Change , review key highlights of Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture to inform elements to COP27 on issues of Agriculture and prepare a draft decision on the future of Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture under the UNFCC Process as well as develop an Africa Group of Negotiator strategy on how to approach agriculture negotiations.

This was an opportunity to learn about the negotiation process and how decisions are arrived at in relation to international conventions.
