Namelok Girls Project

Namelok Girls Scholarship and Mentorship program
Sponsor One Girl to join Lenana Girls School.
Introduction
Hi Friends,
Welcome to Namelok Girls
This is a project I started in 2014 to raise awareness, acceptance, support and understanding about the importance of providing education to Disadvantaged girls  in Kathonzweni  Eastern  Kenya, and eventually Kenya as a whole.
I personally I was raised by my grandmother. I passed through many challenges but kept fighting until I reached where I am. These always reminds me about the tribulations of Disadvantaged girls in Kenya and Africa at large. I am determined to create a better opportunity for such girls to become future mentor too.
I remember Clearly remember how I was sponsored by one missionary sister called Irene van Der weij. She provided all the school fees but my guardian didn't buy me school uniform and other requirements. Learn in school was though paid for difficult in that I had only one underwear, no pullover sweater no text books no games shoes and many other things. One day my sponsor planned to come and pay me a visit in school, unfortunately being her first and last time to visit because of the tight schedule, she just arrived afew minutes after I had been sent home to be bought a second pair of uniform and an extra underpant. That was what had been recorded in my copy of exit sheet. I had no bus fare so I went footing for 20 kilometres to reach home.   That is what makes me think about vulnerability and how I can develop a support system to the Disadvantaged girls in the community.
This is what drives me forward.
Strongly focusing on the Disadvantaged girls who have done the KCPE Examination passed but have no ability or have less ability to join secondary school. I walk in rural small villages where these girls live. I
also visit school to find out if such girls are in their schools.

Namelok Girls : The Project
Namelok Girls is a project to help disadvantaged  girls  go to secondary school.  We offer Mentorship
programs to the girls before they go to  secondary schools. These mentorship program helps the girls build self-esteem,explore different career possibilities that are not often available in a classroom setting and breakdown stereotypes surrounding certain professional and awareness of community's diversity.
I am usually called by informers from villages when they see a girl locked down to avoid taking her to school or when employed in the neighborhood. I am also informed by area administration if any support is needed to any children in need. When I am informed I visit the homes and create awareness before we proceed with arrangements for the girls to go to school. Some write letters for assistance to our organization. That is how I have been working.
De-stigmatizing and ending discrimination to the Disadvantaged girls  and encouraging community to work together and educate the vulnerable children  is key to an empowered society.
It is important to create support systems and encourage more compassion and understanding of the orphans, vulnerable and Disadvantaged children  for a more enlightened society.
Before they go to school in July to start their secondary education,  the girls will first go through the following types of mentorship,
One on one mentoring,
Situational mentoring,
Developmental and career mentoring,
Reverse mentoring and peer-based mentoring.
