My work journey

Hello everyone ♥️

Today May 1st is celebrated as the Labour day in Cameroon. This day is characterized by match pass🕴️🚶 Feasting😋🍗🥘, dancing💃 and wining 🍷 from all angles which has actually diverted the initial reason why this day was put in place.

Today we still see people working in deplorable conditions with little pay packages which cannot sustained thier families as a consequence so many families are forced to send thier children do odd jobs such as:hawking on the street or digging sand, to help the family put food on the table.

This reminds me of my early days as a young worker. In The year 2006 two years after I had my first school certificate I was a house girl in the house Of Mr. Sama in Douala. I worked from 5 AM till about 9pm everyday for a pay package of Five thousand (5000frs) at that time I was 13 years of age. I recieved little or no attention as to my work conditions and I was treated like trash coupled with the fact that he (Mr Sama)was sexually abusing me( story for another day)

Before living with Mr. Sama, I had lived with Madam Sylvia from end 2004- 2005 taking care of children without any pay on agreement that I was to learn a trade which never happened...

2012 I worked at Bible center Cameroon own by A prominent Pastor in town for no Pay...

Same year I worked with GIZ which was my best employer so far but fir certain reasons I lost my Job because many person's though I was not qualify to be in tbat position with such a salary... 100k-250k monthly...

2014 I worked with Fish Farmers Cooperative on a salary if 25 k to which I had arrears of 4months of unpaid salary. And till date it was never paid....

2015 I worked with Madam Flora as a babysitter on a salary of 30k a month working from 6:30 am till 6pm

2017 while in the university I engaged in self sustained businesses so I could meet up with studies and I did small jobs and I started noticing some great changes in my source of income

2020 I was engaged in peanaple business and I was making approximately 3k benefit each day and I noticed on a weekly base I could make 18k benefit which could amount to 72k monthly and could greatly take care of my needs as as woman and a student

On this note, as a worker under deferent persons, the expirience and salary deferences have changed my way of seeing things.

We put in so much effort to work for others and increase thier source of income yet we get nothing in return.

We put our lives at risk ,we don't control our own lives ,we don't have time for our own selves,we can't educate our children yet we do All these things for others and they don't see nor appreciate it... They talk to us carelessly with all disrespect and impunity ...

Am I saying working for others is bad? No ! But they conditions we are working under are they favorable? ....Can you invest in something else with the salary you are recieving? ....Can you take care of your children without sending them to stay with people just because you want them to help you?......

I believe it's time we in this generation should engaged in self sustained activities or entrepreneurship ... We should cancel ❌✖️✖️ the idea of after state employment after school and start thinking on how we can employ ourselves and save future generations

Even in our quest to get educated we need to enroll for courses that will push us to be creative the narrative of general education is fast fading away......

Take note the both the public and most private sectors / entities pay thier workers below standard and it affect everyone from father to children and Future generations.......
