My work for women in the community

taken in 2021

Francine Ingabire

My name is Francine Ingabire, I am the second born of my family, the first daughter, and the first person to attend college from my family. I grew up with a focus on my studies so that I would be able to create a change in my community, a rural area where I was born and grew up from. I joined Davis College, (formerly Akilah Institute for women) in 2018. I was engaged there in leadership and social change projects. I assigned myself a task to create opportunities for women for them to be included in community development and play their role in solving the global pressing issues. In 2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown, I joined Global GAIN as an intern to learn more about the role of women in leadership. It was a good space to learn and connect professionally as well as to think about my role in the community I live in. During my internship period, my leadership and entrepreneurship skills were developed. I am committed to creating more opportunities for young women like me and the young generation as a whole.

Currently I am starting a new non governmental organization to build professional networking spaces with the mission to increase their participation in decision making positions and to take a part in solving pressing issues in the community.
