Thanx for the encouragement after the first part of my story.
let me tell you the rest of the story now!
When I arrived in Rawalpindi that day, ( it was august OF 2009) I had no clue that how am i suppose to reach that hostel now! But I knew the name of that hospital in English it was "holy family hospital" but in our language we used to call it "girjy wala hospital".
Soon i found a tuktuk, the driver was a Pashtun and he knew my language very well. God bless that man, he really helped me that day, even he knew that i know nothing about the city and i am all alone. He took me to the hospital, from there, i guided him to the hostel where Hina and Rukhsana use to live. The tuktuk driver refused to take the fare and just left me IN front of the hostel.
Hina was there and she received me with a warm smile. Rukhsana was away that day because her university was closed for summers. Meanwhile Hina was doing some computer courses so she was there.
i told her about everything that happened and surely she was a blessing, the way she supported me that time, it was much needed.
Now that i was there, broke and had almost no money, I had no clue what to do next!
The hostel policy was that no kids were allowed there! But hina asked the warden that i am just a guest and not a permanent resident.
Now the main thing was how to start my career, or how can i support my self. because the hostel was not going to let me live there for too long.
I lived there for almost a month and Hina made countless excuses to help me live there.
The very first night I saw Hina doing something on her laptop. And laptop was a new thing for me. I asked her what is she doing and she started telling me about "Microsoft word and excell" . I asked her to teach me Urdu AND ALSO WHAT SHE WAS DOING N THE LAPTOP.
And thats where my career began, she introduced me to other hostel mates, they all use to come into my room and play with my newborn. Meanwhile i was learning how to operate a pc. Almost every night, all the girls used to sit together and watch a Bollywood or Hollywood movie on Hina's laptop and that was a life changing experience. That's where I learned that I can laugh, i can talk without any limits. I can tell my feedback. I can talk about my feelings, I can say that how the things should be. I can discus ideas, I can look forward to a better future.
Hina used to pick up the newspaper every morning from the warden's office and look for some jobs. And one day she found one, a Pashtun translator was required in a recruiting agency. (Pakistanis prefer to move to Gulf Countries for labor jobs and these jobs are announced by such agencies).
Hina went there for the interview and she got the job, and soon after she started working there they needed help, and then i went for the interview to work as a receptionist and to take the details of the Pashtuns coming for the job. Meanwhile Hina was dealing with overall every application because she was good in other languages as well like Urdu & Punjabi.
Or basic salary was enough to get a small portion in a residential area, and we did get a place for ourselves.
I don't know, if i never knew Hina , I would never be able to survive on my own.
But all thanks to god and this Kind soul for supporting me in that time of need!
I was a emotionally challenged girl, who has a lot to learn and almost every experience was new to me. In the beginning it was hard to talk to people, hard to deal with a man i don't know. It was hard to manage with a newborn by my side.
One day, my boss asked me to write an email to a client in UAE. The email was suppose to be in English and i wasn't even that good in Urdu. Hina helped me writing that email and that's when I realized that one should also learn English in order to move ahead.
So on the recommendations of Hina, I started taking classes in an institute near my house.
I also started watching Hollywood movies and YouTube videos in order to learn English fast. I started reading books, Sydney Sheldon's "tell me your dreams" was my first novel. and I read that novel for several times to get it right. I used sticky notes to learn new words and their meanings.
But all those things worked pretty well for me.
In 2011 I resigned from that job and got another better paying job in Islamabad, the capital. But I was stuck in jobs where they don't ask for degrees. Because i didn't had one.
So I decided to continue my studies. I appeared in the exams of combined 9th and 10th grade and passed that exam easily. Then I asked Hina about the 11th and 12th grade and she told me to go for those exams on private basis. Just take some subject from arts curriculum and you are good to go. So I did and in the next two years I was eligible to go to a university.
It was harder to even manage, my home, my son as he was also going to school, my job and my studies but I heard someone once said " Fight like a woman". So i did.
Got my BS (Hons) degree in Mass Communication from a well reputed university in Islamabad, in 2018.
