My vision, My Hope

My personal Vision for life is “To touch lives through awakening potential” meaning helping and empowering others to realize their full potential in life, motivate the feeling of ‘I CAN’ within them, restore the courage and human capacity lost through traumatic and other life threatening experiences, and overall build a restored sense of belonging and worth.

Most of the youth population in the area cannot find employment and those who are employed do not earn enough to live a meaningful live style. In recent time, the closing of some mine shafts in Virginia and Welkom, the effect of it is felt around the area due to retrenched workers(few youths) returning home to further increases the unemployment number. This single act further adds more burden to the social, political and economic problem of the area. Lack of jobs and Income, break down of family’s values and vulnerable in many sectors especially amongst youth and women the impact of HIV and AIDS is also a key social problem within the area which leaves many young people sick and vulnerable. The outcome makes the community even children turn to crime, drugs and prostitution which in turn contributes more to social stress.

If we strengthen women participation in leadership and constructive efforts they can influence young women’s perception of life, and transformed leadership to creating safe space for all. Our country has to empower women and youth by keeping them in school an enabling them to realize their full potential.

I dream of an HIV/AIDS free community, where every individual take responsibility for their behaviors and actions, where women would exercise their right to choice and expression, where men would recognize the equal potential women possess as them. My vision is for country free of Violence against all genders, the restoration of the Ubuntu (Humanity) and where men and women join hands and discover what the future has for the Children, which are the present but holds the key for a brighter future.

I have always had passion for working with the community, especially the underprivileged, abused, neglected and abandoned, regardless of age. My total fulfillment was to see people taking a positive turn in their lives, challenging the hierarchy of poverty of helplessness, piloting for education and equal opportunities

I want to be the Voice of correspondent because:
I have always carried the passion and the drive to become a social worker, for me then, this was a way of reaching out to those that needed my help, but I have learned that there are ways of been a voice qualifications or not. I believe that I am already in a good position to to reaching out to more, my continuum community engagements is a platform already for me to continue. Been currently involved in advocacy and educational programmes which are aimed or rather in line with my vision of touching and reaching lives, has opened my eyes and broaden my understanding on The power within me, the abilities that vested in me and the drive to deliver on daily basis.
Been the voice of correspondence, I can contribute my time experience and knowledge to increase the proportion of people knowing and understand Human Rights, help people make use of relevant resources provided to them as means of support, through online and filed awareness campaigns, increase the number of people accessing information that is beneficial to them and their communities, establish online ongoing support groups and volunteer services, provide information and awareness to youth on the importance of positive use of social media services as a learning and networking tool and motivating women to discover their full potential.
There’s so much we can do, and I feel I am on the right platform with so many voices sharing and working towards one goal.
