My Soaring Pain

My Soaring Pain

Why my pain isn’t receding?

Why my heart isn’t at peace?

Why my Kashmir is lifeless as dead?

And why the world has gone so dumb?

Why the phones are so mute?

Why the air is so hushed in my land?

Why can’t I talk freely on the phone?

Why are people confined in homes?

What is their fault? What is their mistake?

Why is my pain rising after every dusk?

Why are my nights so abysmal?

Why are days so unsure?

Why is Kashmir now a slaughterhouse?

Why is our youth in the dark slammer?

O’ my colonizers why are you agonizing our innocent lot?

What is their mistake? What is their fault?

Why is mum doubtful of the dawn?

Why has dad all the hope?

Why is the night of melancholy so long?

Why is the world so dumb and numb?

This is because I am Kashmir bathed in blood my colonizers fraud.
