My Parents. My Miracle.

“It’s not that usual when everything is beautiful / It’s just another ordinary miracle today…The sun comes up and shines so bright / It disappears again at night / It’s just another ordinary miracle today.” (\"Ordinary Miracle\", Sarah McLachlan)
My daily, ordinary miracle is my parents. They met when they were 13 and 15, while living in the same neighbourhood. Then, because of my grandpa’s business, my mom and her family moved away. Many years later she visited her old neighbourhood and decided to “give Pat a call”, just to see what he was up to. My dad, who was dating someone at the time, dropped everything to go and catch up with my mom. A few months later they were engaged and a few months after that they were married. Now, 40+ years later, they are still together and are the most perfect example of tried and true love that I have ever seen. They have come through so much - separation, children who break their hearts, opposite personalities, cancer - and today, in my life, they are the ordinary miracle that Sarah sings so beautifully about in her song. My parents are my lifeline. They are my best friends and, for me, are God’s face on earth. They are the living embodiment of God’s patient and endless love…because they have stuck with me and have loved me unconditionally. Through all my many tumultuous years they have never let me down and they always, always had, and have, my back. They love each other, and love me. And in my opinion there is no greater miracle than love that is true. And for that I want to dedicate this posting, this miracle, to them. I love you Mom and Dad – Pat and Bonnie. Love from your daughter, Kimberly.
