My Journey

Am a Malawian girl, leading a project in my community which has a lot to do with girls and young women. Just to mention a few, I am from a community where girls and women are considered to be useless, this is so due their cultural practices, which hinders most of the girls hence the increase in number of sexual harassments, which leads to unexpected , well known as (teenmothers) and school dropouts.

As we get along we found out that a huge number of girls are willing to get back to school but the challenge is that some of them are needy, their household incomes cannot meet their school fees, which is also making alot of girls to withdraw. So far, a lot of women in my community are never respected, denied accessibility to job opportunities and great education. Some people say that \"Common senses are not common to women,\" but I say that's not true because everybody has them, it's just that we are never given a chance to use our common senses. I really want everybody to have equal opportunities including women.

There are a number of resources and skills that I need to continue successfully. For a example, as a young leader I need effective leadership skills and some funds which will be helpful to the girls and young women in my community. In a few years to come, I want to see change in school dropouts and women being successful.
