My Journey

Hello everyone. My name is Thandiwe Maphosa. I was married at 17 years old. I was abused and no one listened to me or cared about what l was going through. I had four miscarriages. I am now 22 years and l finally got the strength to leave the abusive marriage. I was pregnant last year when l left and now l have my beautiful baby girl l am a young proud single mother. I started a small organization called "Girls Not Brides". I teach them how to sew clothes and braiding to earn more money for school fees , clothes etc. I am really enjoying being independent hopefully one day l will make my organization big.l passed my high school and now l went back to university. My dream is to stop child marriages and domestic violence and give young girls a voice to defend themselves and work hard to secure a better future.
