my Jouney

My first community or company, as I like to call it, is based in Cameroon, from where I originate. The CEO is an understanding man, whom I love to work with as \"Chief Operations Manager\". We coordinate a four-person team, making a total of 6 people altogether: six personalities, six different combinations of temperaments, and, fortunately, the same passion for others and vision for more justice and equity. That is my family.! Though we live not far very from the capital city in the centre of the country, we are from the Western region of Cameroon. Otherwise, I am part of a multicultural community where members have committed to seek to eradicate every form of discrimination, especially gender based injustice in the areas of education and poverty alleviation. It is amazing how ignorance and hostility have been used to increase servitude and despair.

Our action aims at women’s welfare in the following four dimensions: economic justice against exploitation, human dignity against oppression, solidarity against alienation and hope against despair. We strongly believe that if these goals are achieved in the lives of women, the entire society will be impacted in a sustainable way: men, children (the next generation of decision-makers and change agents) will witness and experience a novel quality of life.

Literacy programmes, especially functional literacy which combines reading/writing competence with practical skill development and trainings for income generating activities (female entrepreneurship), have opened gates to many women. Mama Louisa is one of them; she got her first credential at the age of 56. How proud was she when she understood she no longer needed to take her private/family communications/documents to literate neighbours. Several times, careless gossiping devastated her, but she had no choice because she was illiterate. Today, her plans, actions, are no longer public matters.

Education on civil rights and responsibilities, health issues, trauma healing, legal, psychological and other services have also brought transformation in many lives.

Feedback shows we are on the right track, and should continue. Women are our direct beneficiaries, but we are aware that behind each woman, there is a family, a community that will develop as a result of our actions. We very much appreciate the opportunity of accessing a wide and rich variety of valuable resources (ideas, encouragements, information, etc) through World Pulse.

The network of friends who support this vision for change with benevolent service and like-minded organizations that have agreed to partnership (consulting and training services) are useful. Besides, there is need for more technical expertise, equipments, funding to increase impact.
