My Brave Mother

My Mother Francine

With Mother’s Day coming up I wanted to take a minute to reflect on the personal strength of my mother. Adversity has followed her for a long time, and she always beats the odds.

My mom was a mother at the age of fourteen, when she gave birth to me. Then she gave birth to her second child 12 years later. We lost my dad in 1994 due to murder. Then fast forward 2009, my mother became partial quadriplegic from a back surgery and has been unable to walk. As of today, she is still confined to a wheelchair. All this and she is still inspired to live on regardless of what she has faced throughout her life. Moral of the story is she had the strength to weather the storm. I learned from her that all ladies have that type of strength we just have to tap into it.
