Module 4- Overcoming my failure made me stronger

People gathered to pick the lunch packet post training in a village

I started a not-for-profit in 2020 Dec during the peak covid. My only motivation was to serve people and give them a dignified life, as I lost more than 500 people close to me during covid-19. I faced failure at every step, starting from registering the organization. The courts were closed, and I had to wait for weeks. Finally, after a lot of hauls, I could do it. Still, misery struck me as I got covid thrice due to the extensive traveling I was doing around northeast India, conducting rescue operations followed by other diseases like typhoid. My work suffered as I was the only person executing everything on the ground.

I tried reaching educational institutions to educate them on the violence that occurs daily in our households which again promotes trafficking. Most told me to come later. The one who agreed wished me to provide lunch to the trainees. It was a challenge for me as I didn't have funds and was doing the work all myself. I shed tears alone as I didn't know what to do. I continued reaching more and more institutions, going door to door, making people understand how important its talk about and understand trafficking. It took me months to convince people to allow me in their houses, schools, and colleges across northeast India. Many a time, I stayed in jungles with tribal communities, but that didn't budge my spirit. I had to make a difference. I knew living with people in the villages was necessary. Seeing me staying with them for months, the people understood my vision. They felt my passion and started helping to reach more people on the ground.

I remembered the quote by Mahatma Gandhi.

It's easy to stand with the crowd, and it takes courage to stand alone.

Remembering this quote, I consistently pushed myself. I started taking late-night trains so I could reach my destination early morning. I remember how I struggled every single moment in the severe winter. With no road access, I walked kilometers to get to communities, and after months of work, the results brought tears of joy I could reach more than 75k people, stopped five child marriages, and helped arrest traffickers.

My struggle made me powerful and gave me courage to keep moving forward and i wish to create a bigger and larger impact by reaching thousands more by the end of these year 2022
