Collaboration
My name is Pearl. I grew up in Jamestown.A small town in Accra, Ghana. I lived there for 26 years. I saw a lot of things happen to young girls. Most of the young girls in the neighborhoods parents were illiterates and also single parents including mine. So there’s no one to look up to or direct you. No one to mentor you so you just go with the wind. Some parents even neglect their children when they get to jhs. Living them to fend for themselves. Now these girls not knowing what to do now become preys for young guys in the hood. They lure them with little amount of money which makes it look like they own them . They sleep with them and impregnate them. Some go and stay with them and serve them forever whiles some are left on their own. When these happens the lives of these young girls come to a halt. What hurts me is that most of these girls have so much potential but just cos they don’t have a mentor or someone to direct them. We even see some of these things when we go for church evangelism. It’s my goal to be there for these girls. Start mentoring them from jhs 1. Look out for their interest and then develop it. Speak to them on topics such as education, teenage pregnancy, career, saving, achieving ones goals, marriage, motherhood, investment , health , sex, family planning , counseling. Create a group for them. Organize online talks for them once a week and then in person meetings once a month. Try and meet their needs so that no one can lure them. Equip them intellectually. Move from govt school to another just to speak to them and then mentor them
