Mentoring Orientation

Unconscious bias is the tendency to favor or judge people based on stereotypes , race, gender, sexual orientation or assumptions, without being aware of it ;everyday acts or comments that convey disrespect, hostility, or exclusion towards a person or a group, based on their identity or background. For example, a mentor might unconsciously assume that a female mentee is less competent or ambitious than a male mentee, or make a remark that implies that a mentee of color does not belong in a certain field or position. A friend of mine running a political office in his school is seen by many as arrogant because of the way he appears and how he present himself in arguments well equipped.
