Men's Day and Toilet Day : Are we abolishing Men ?

We look for extra privileges because men has over centuries had them .But do we ourselves offer it to our own ? Are we introspective enough to recognise when we are unkind ,when we are being avoided because of our boorish behaviour ?

A special compartment in a Metro,if an infirm man / someone late enters he is shooed away ..with real hate speech ,you should travel in one to hear the words .

But if you see a pregnant lady ,do you offer her the seat .I have seen often ,the old women,the pregnant ladies having to travel to the general compartment where a Man kind enough will offer a seat .And yes,I always stand up,and offer There is that many seats only ,I can give.

These are incidents that I have observed in Indian metros ,places where women feel unsafe ,hence special trains,special compartments ,special seats etc ..

Even the disabled seats are taken by these so disadvantaged ladies while the physically handicapped stand on . .

We expect weeks celebration for woman's day,and gifts too ,but on men's day ,do we do a little thing special for acknowledging them ?

Would any man be complete without a woman or vice versa ? We need each other always,for our growth,for our kids and society to grow .

Can we as women ,stop taking privileges because some men someday has taken it from us ? We are still in a patriarchial society ,and we all suffer ..

But can we accept those that support us ,not sacrificing ,but recognising our troubles ?

I am writing this ,as at 16,the son is officially recognised as an adult man here in my part of the world .

He fears ,that one day even if he is speaking the truth ,he will not be heard because a woman brought some fake Shame on him ,his exact words ..

I want to reassure him,that there are many women who believe in equality now ,more than ever before .They will not take a situation and demand it as privilege ,being in the patriarchial society he still belongs to .

.My heart feels afraid,trying to protect him and yet let him fly free ..Balance is now being shifted , with too many activists of many types ,media etc.who don't know where to stop ..rather than create sensations.

For every Aftab,there is a Sabya to look up too and learn from .Let us as women support other humans and recognise signs of abuse in any form to whomever it might happen and take a stand .

Men bleed the same as women,dnt stop their tears and tell them to man up ..
