Measuring Impact

In the last Training Tuesday, we were trained on measuring the impact we are making.

Impact to me is the significant change made over a long time.

And in the case of this initiative, it is to close the disparity between boys and girls in school and change the mindset that girls do not need to be in school.

The baseline is that almost 50% of girls on my community are out of school and girls in the community schools form two thirds of the drop outs.

The indicators I use to measure the impact are

1. Increase in girls enrollment.

2. Increase in number of girls completing secondary schools.

3. Decrease of girls dropping out of school.

4. Behavioral change towards girls getting education.

These will take time, but can be gotten at the end of each school session.

I check the outcome and outputs of each activity and that helps to keep me on track with the change I seek to make.

Some of the strategies for achieving this impact are sensitization to traditional and religious leaders.

Advocacies to Political and traditional leaders.

Sensitization to girls in secondary Schools.

Distribution of reusable pads.
