Light at night in Utelu.
Sisters City is situated in Utelu. Sisters City is the only Sisters City in the world. We bought 47 acres of land in Itelu for the project. 40 acres is the farm project to support the free food bank. One acre is for the future office and 6 acres is where have our buildings. So far we have built 14 structures inside Sisters City. We have our skill acqusition halls that can accommodate 400 women. We have our orchards and have more than 500 trees inside Sisters City alone. We have our equipment ready too.
But, there is No electricity in Utelu.
Utelu is my Ancestralland. It is more than 500 years old but it lacks all the basic amenities needed for a community to survive...
After the kidnapping saga on April 27th. People advised me to abandom the project to save my life. But I have go e too far to quit. Who leaves a city behind? Who abandon a whole city of women!
Not me.
So I dreamt of changing Utelu into a community that is inviting. I started with making a road. I was able to achieve that fete and now...what next?
Let there be light.
The government of Nigeria is a very busy government. They are busy with a lot of things that I don't know. So I will have to fundraise to bring electricity for my people in Utelu.
. I use Facebook a lot and I am blessed with good people online. I posted the need and some sisters rose to help me.... My Worldpulse sisters also donated to the project.
I need at least 20 solar street lights for a start. I was able to raise the first week and immediately I garner resources to erect the FIRST five street lights.
This is the first time ever that Utelu community people will see lights.
The children were dancing on the street. The adults were running after me to say thank you and to pray for me..... this Thursday, I will erect another two...that's 7 solar street lights.
Miracle in Utelu.
If I were to go through the government, to supply electricity in Utelu, in the next 10 years, it will still have been impossible.
Doing this by myself shows that I am right in my Transformation beliefs that we can do whatever we lay in our hearts. As long as we have good intentions and pay good attention to it.
Now that I know that it is possible for a poor individual to do what the government fails for do for their community, I will continue to fundraise until I have the required number of solar street lights. 20 solar street lights from Sisters city up to the village market in Utelu Owo.
When I look at the solar street lights in Utelu. What comes to my mind are many.....Magical! Transformational. Life saving.. school children Studying at night.
I am always very grateful to my supporters who are committed to transformation. May Almighty God continue to replenish everyone of them. Amen.
Now the struggle continues. No going back.
