LET US TALK ABUSE , AND TRIUMPHING OVER IT

I started THE BOOKCLUB as part of my trainathons ,using Digital Storytelling .

Its amazing to read the stories of others , but even more exciting to have the authors of those stories share them personally , especially stories of Triumph, Resilience and Victory over negative circumstance .

Today was our BOOK CLUB MEET UP , I was really excited , its been a busy week ,but I was  determined to get this done as we I truly wanted this guest story to be heard

Dr. Johnetta Mc Swain , grew up in Alabama, and is  a survivor , a real life wonder woman ,she triumphed over severe sexual abuse as a child ,rape, physical abuse , bullying ,and all the negative effects associated with it .

Her recollection of HERSTORY is mind blowing , but she overcame , the promiscuity , the drugs, stealing and doing jail time .

She became a mother at eighteen, she was numb to the negative effects of living the fast life and became fully engaged , she ran the streets ,she said ,  she  did whatever possible to be accepted as part of the in crowd and to care for her children

But at age  30 she realized she didnt want her sons to become  another set of  statics  of a dysfunctional home and she drove to another state to start allover .

She went back to school as an adult determined to succeed and putting her pride aside sought help to do the basic s eventually making her way to the top , finishing her frist degree in three years , and a total of three Degrees in ten years ending with her recent PHD.

Persuaded by her professor ,she wrote her frist book Rising  Above The Scars after her story was narrated by Jane Fonda for the documentary the THE ROAD BEYOUND ABUSE which  went onto win an EMMY AWARD , its  posted below ,its a must see .

She has accomplished so much since those dark days of Alabama , God has opened many doors for her ,she has spoken in many countries across the globe , she heads her own organisation , Break The Cycle , which promotes awareness to young girls in schools across the United States . She is a Motivational speaker and a life and development coach.

She promotes The Wonder Woman campaign that encourages women to be super hero,s standing up for justice for themselves against the effect of Domestic and Sexual abuse , to take the power which belongs to them .

I frist met this incredible lady on the Island of St.Vincent and the Grenadines ,while she was there to launch their Campaign to raise awareness Against Domestic Violence in 2015 and have stayed connected with her since .

It was such a pleasure to host her today , unfortunately we had a few technical glitches ,but we overcame and what she shared was truly appreciated by those veiwing .

She delivered her story with passion , laughter and some tears as she looked back how far she come and really grateful for her transformation and blessings ,.

At the end there was a lot to take away , never give up , in my country there is a saying how you start isnt how you finish ,and Dr, Mc swains life is living testimony ,that with God all things are  possible .
