Let Save Ha

This advocacy campaign all started with my story. My single mother trained 6 girls and at that time disposable pads began so pricely. My mom couldn't keep up with the costly nature so she bought tissue paper to aid us while menstruating monthly. It was uncomfortable and itchy but we had no choice at that time. I usually felt uncomfortable, especially when I am at social gatherings, sometimes I get scared that the tissue might fall out. I can never forget those moments in my life. There are millions of women and young girls today that are in the position that I was years ago.

On any given moment,  more than 300 million women worldwide are menstruating. In total, an estimated 500 million lack access to menstrual products and adequate facilities for menstrual hygiene management (MHM).

Today, a lot of women and young girls in low-income communities do not have a choice. Families can't  even afford three square meals in a day and so buying sanitary pads will be the last thing on their minds. These women use rags and clothes during their periods and it can lead to infections... I and the team had a survey in communities in Nassarwa state, Nigeria and we realized that don't even know so much about personal hygiene and Menstrual Hygiene Management. We embarked on the first outreach in a community called Shabu North development area, Nassarwa state, Nigeria. We educated the 100 women on MHM and distribute reusable pads to them, it was an awesome experience. The idea is to mitigate period poverty in Africa from 2022 to 2030 This is a gap that must be filled up. Let's join this campaign and Save Ha...
