Know Your Worth

Building peace

Mary was a bright and ambitious young woman from a small village. She had always dreamed of becoming a successful journalist and helping people tell their stories. After finishing high school, she joined college full of hope and excitement. However, life in the city was not as easy as she had imagined. Many students around her seemed to live expensive lifestyles, wearing designer clothes, eating in fancy restaurants, and posting perfect pictures on social media.

Slowly, Mary began comparing herself to others. She felt pressured to fit in and started believing that success meant looking rich and gaining attention online. Some of her friends encouraged her to find older men who could provide money and expensive gifts. They made it seem normal and easy. At first, Mary was tempted because she also wanted a comfortable life and feared being left behind.

One evening, after attending a seminar about women empowerment, a speaker said something that stayed in her mind: “Never sacrifice your future for temporary comfort. What comes easily can also destroy you easily.” Those words made Mary reflect deeply about the choices she was making and the kind of woman she wanted to become.

Mary decided to focus on building herself instead of competing with others. She started improving her skills, reading more books, and learning online. During her free time, she began writing articles and creating content about challenges young women face in society. Though her journey was slow, she became more confident and independent. She learned that real success is built through patience, hard work, and self-respect.

As time went by, Mary became an inspiration to many girls in her community. She taught them that social media does not always reflect reality and that every young woman should value herself beyond money, beauty, or relationships. She encouraged girls to pursue education, learn skills, and make wise decisions that protect their future.

Mary’s story reminds young women that their worth is not determined by what they own or how others see them. True beauty comes from confidence, wisdom, discipline, and purpose. A woman who believes in herself and protects her dignity can overcome challenges and build a future she will always be proud of.
