Kithyululu Development initiative.

Kithyululu is a Kamba name meaning  merry go round.

We arrived at this name one day during my meeting with women who had been locked into a room by an officer from one microfinance institution. Just because one member had no payments for the loan repayment installment. This could go on until the member has paid. It was so sad because this act created many problems. Some were beaten by the husbands for coming home late, children were left hungry and sometimes abused, livestock were hungry too and unwatered amongst many others.

Lucky enough I assisted them pay the instalments and had a meeting with them to look for a permanent solution to this problem. We agreed to have a joint payment schedule that would pay for all loans though individual. We suggested to contribute Ksh.50  weekly and borrow amongst ourselves to create interest. We saw that this would not be able to cover for our total instalments and decided to do a one time injection of every member's monthly installment to empower our new build initiative. 

This was the genesis of Kithyululu development initiative. We started at Gilgal Springs Foundation women group but now we have trained several group in Makueni, Kathonzweni sub county. 

We have solved most of the problems affecting women. If you empower a woman you empower the family,the nation and the entire World. I am proud to be the founder Kithyululu development initiative. My target is to train as many as possible and to come up with a like minded Financial institution that will empower the group more. Live long WorldPulse in you we trust.
