KABUL

I grew up with hope; I had dreams of a future.

I wanted to become a pilot  no a member of the parliament

They said I could be anything I ever wanted to

Fate was aligning my destiny in the right path; I could even fly

Kabul gave me a reason to smile; even the birds sing happily every morning

Oh, how lovely it was to gaze at the city from the mountain top at night

A city filled with laughter, love and sun

Kabul, everyone is running away

The birds no longer sing

Even the sun cries before rising and setting

Oh Kabul, what has happened to us?

Will the sun ever rise again?

Will I ever sit on the board defending women and girls?

Oh Kabul, Oh Kabul
