Hello World,
I am Yashi and this is my story, how I mobilize community people and make them realise about the importance of family planning and male involvement in family planning. I want to share a story of a women named; Sarita.
She is a domestic worker lived in urban community of city Lucknow with her 3 children and husband. Her husband went to jail for 3 months and she barely fulfil her and her children needs with her little earning. She struggled a lot to bring her husband back from the jail then after that her husband started working as a daily wage worker and simultaneously become addicted to alcohol. Her husband also forced her to get intimate with him whether she wanted it or not, then she shared her story and problems to us and we as worker of an organisation counselled her and suggested her to go for the tubectomy or asked her to tell her husband that he also can go for vasectomy, whatever is feasible for them.
But her clearly denied for vasectomy as he is afraid that this could affect his masculinity and sarita cannot go for tubectomy as she did not have any Id to get herself register in any government hospital. Then after a weekly process of proper counselling of her husband under the guidance of health workers and organisation workers he finally became ready for vasectomy because they both cannot see their children struggling for basic needs. So, for the sake of happy family, he agreed to do so.
