In a brilliant intersection of environmental advocacy and visual storytelling, independent photographer Oviul Maruf has clinched the top championship title at the prestigious Environmental Photography Exhibition. The national-level competition was hosted as a centerpiece event of the Sylhet Environment Summit by Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU).

Competing against a dense pool of talented submissions from young visual artists and photographers across sylhet, Maruf’s work captivated the jury board. His photographs successfully balanced aesthetic mastery with urgent environmental commentary, earning him the coveted winner's crest.

Currently a student at Jalalabad Cantonment Public School and College, Oviul Maruf has steadily built a reputation that reaches far beyond regional borders. Specializing in nature, macro, and abstract photography, his lens consistently uncovers hidden perspectives within the natural world.

The championship at Sylhet Agricultural University marks a monumental home-ground victory for Maruf, who is already no stranger to global recognition. He is a six-time award winner in international photography contests and has seen his work featured in elite global publications such as Collater Magazine, Wallmag Magazine, and Smithsonian Magazine.

With a major university championship crest now added to his growing collection of international accolades, Oviul Maruf cements his trajectory as one of the most promising young independent photographers emerging from Bangladesh today.
