Introducing myself and my journal: World Peace

About Me:
In terms of degrees, I hold an MA in political science and I am currently finishing my PhD research on Chinese security politics in the Darfur crisis, connecting security with development issues. I have lived abroad for more than five years (France, China, the United States and Canada, with shorter trips to Israel/Palestine and Sudan). I understand cultures different from mine fairly easily after having delved deeply into the Chinese culture. German is my native language, but I also speak English and French fluently and Mandarin Chinese at an intermediate level. I have strong analytical skills from my research but also operational and policy skills from my experience as a legislative aide and policy advisor in the German Parliament and the U.S. Congress. Through my experience in legislative institutions in two different countries, I have learned to look at the same topic from very different perspectives. Working on the Subcommittee for Africa and Global Health, I learned much about the situation of African countries. Previous to work as a policy advisor I worked as a fellow in the Sector of Early Childhood and Inclusive Education at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. Through all these experiences, I am good in managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced and multi-ethnic environment. The more diverse my environment is, the more I thrive.
