Introducing myself and my journal: Who Is Afraid of the Big Bad Feminist?

About Me:
I have grown up being a bit of a gypsy, and have grown to love every minute of it! At first, I was travelling because I had to with my family. But now, as an adult, I have kept up the habit, finding joy in the experiences of meeting new people and being challenged in my perspectives. I Have been a student, a teacher and many other things... I love any task that allows me to be creative. I also love working with people, because I feel that, when working together, people can best come up with new and positive solutions to any problem.
I just recently finished my M.A. in Gender and Peacebuilding for the U.N. University for Peace in Costa Rica, and befor that I was teaching for nearly 2 years in South Korea. I have met some wonderful people along the way, and know that there are many more to meet!
I pride myself on being an idealist and a realist. I think that things can only hope for change if you can imagine the world better than it is, and that dreaming of a better world is not good enough; you have to act upon those dreams to make them a reality.

My Passions:
Teaching, learning, being challenged, education against sexual violence, redefining masculinity and femininity, traveling, facilitating dialogue for peace and cross-cultural communication.

My Challenges:
I get extremely emotionally involved in what I am working on...I am learning to channel this into positive action.

My Vision for the Future:
I want to put all of my passion and motivation into working for a world where all people are valued equally, regardless of age, sex, gender, socio-economic status, or any other factor.

My Areas of Expertise:
I am a strong communicator; I love working with people, both in a leadership position and as part of a passionate team.
