Introducing myself and my journal: The Lion's Tale

About Me:
I am a thirty-something, first-generation American living on the Gulf Coast in the United States. I am a freelance human rights researcher and writing fellow, currently working on a book about being a female prisoner in state-run facilities in the United States and another about general prisoners rights within the United States. I feel that many people make the mistake in thinking that as long as the United States is not as bad as (insert country), we are free from violating the basic human rights of our citizens and there is no reason to speak out when we do see rights being violated. I also believe that in many cases, violations go unknown or ignored. I am an activist and advocate, believing that it is our responsibility and our duty to speak for those who have their voices stolen and our unable to speak for themselves. I also believe that the smallest act of kindness can change someone's life. I am married with children, my oldest being diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, a high-functioning disorder on the autism spectrum.

My Passions:
Being a voice for those who are not allowed to speak

My Vision for the Future:
Compassion, hope and love

My Areas of Expertise:
Prisoners rights, human rights, Prison reform, Abolition of the Death Penalty
