Introducing myself and my journal: The African Woman

About Me:
I am the Project Manager of Foundation for Rural Education, Wildlife and Environment, a charitable organization that supports students and schools with school fees and materials, engage in activities that promotes environmental sustainability and wildlife conservation. Due to the lack of economic empowerment of women in Africa, through my unit, I have been involved in the provision of skills training for women and girls in the areas of production of batik clothes locally known as 'tie and dye' in The Gambia. The women also acquire the skills to produce local soap. Recently, I linked my organization with the Canadian Embassy and Canada Fund for Local Initiatives collaborated with us to establish a Fish Preservation Centre for women fish sellers. Before now, the women had to travel for kilometres to access such facilities. My organization just finished work on a journal titled The African Woman. The journal is in prose form and chronicles the life of a woman called Hajia. This woman succeeds against all odds to liberate herself from the cultural enslavement of women in Africa and is able to restore respect and dignity to womanhood.
