Introducing myself and my journal: Social Development

About Me:
I am Mexican that believes in the creation of a World with equal opportunities and respect for all the individuals. I believe in social change, social development and women empowerment. I think in that social and economic development of communities is possible as far as the projects are realistic, proactive, sustainable and toward the people, including the people.
For the last 4 years, I have worked in the social development sector in Mexico. Leading research projects for the identification of needs within rural and urban communities, measuring poverty among these communities and creating comparable models that help decision maker to ensure an adequate distribution of resources. These projects have promoted public policies at the municipality level and changes in behaviors and attitudes towards the social development. I have also managed grants and programs from the federal government to improve the life conditions and encourage positive changes of certain populations. These programs had varied from economic development of migrant’s communities, to education projects and grants, and women programs for gender equality and women empowerment.
Since March 2011, I have been participating in a volunteering exchange opportunity with Atlas Service Corps this organization develops leaders, strengthens organizations and promotes innovation through an overseas fellowship of skilled professionals.
I am currently an Atlas Corps Fellow serving at Susan G Komen for the Cure in Washington DC. Komen is the biggest grassroots that aim to end breast cancer forever. Currently cancer is one the principal non communicable diseases around the world. At Komen I have been managing the Latin American Grants that build capacity of the local breast cancer NGOs.
