About Me:
I am a retired woman in my early 60's. My professional career spanned - government licensed day/family care; craft and sewing teaching; food co-op management; primary-high school home economics teaching; middle school and tertiary/university senior administration support. My current activities include informal literacy through sewing classes with refugee girls, along with care and support of my husband who continues music teaching and music education professional development nationally and internationally, and support of my mother who was recently diagnosed with demensia. I am the mother of two married sons, one of whom is the father of four young sons. Although I've heard many times - 'its too bad you didn't have any daughters', I am assured that the two sons honour and respect women, and as young men, they were considered 'safe' by young women.
I am a Christian and seek to act justly, love in mercy and walk humbly with God. However, I am constantly confronted by my own ignorance, arrogance, and entitlement.
I have been involved in IFUW and the related Australian federation since the early 1990's, serving in a number of roles at the local, state and national levels. In 2013, I was elected Convener, IFUW Membership Committee and now strive to lead my committee in projects assigned by the Board, to support IFUW staff, and to accomplish the membership committee's terms of reference including supporting NFAs and members and affirming new NFAs.
