About Me:
I am an Indian, first generation graduate, born to parents who were not much educated. My father died when I was two years old and I saw my struggle to bring us all up (5 of us) and I suffered so many set backs as the last child. Somehow I decided that I will work to ensure that no girl child suffered such fate of lack of care and decided to be involved in Non Profit organisation. Created my own with friends in 1985 (incidentally GUIDE is in silver jubilee year) and fairly soon became specialised on protection and promotion of women's human rights. Now we have women leaders in over 500 villages of Tamilnadu, directly trained by GUIDE and are in turn are empowering other women. We want to make sure that every rural women has access and control over the local common resources. My husband is also working as a NGO worker and my daughter is preparing to become a IAS officer. In India, to be an IAS is a prestigious and powerful position, from which you actually can do a lot for the development of the weakest.

To ensure that people are able to have peaceful co existence
