Introducing myself and my journal: fostering self determination

About Me:
I have been fortunate to serve as an English as a Second Language teacher of immigrants, refugees and asylees in Alaska, Minnesota, Costa Rica and, recently, Oregon. Personal relationships with those from around the world have touched me deeply and awakened more global insights and perspectives. My desire is to be of use to those who are conduits for change and opportunity, particularly of women and girls in this world. As a new resident of Portland, OR, I am hoping to connect with more like minded individuals as are the people I have met through the African Women's Coalition and the Day Laborer's Center. Your site offers that opportunity to many--thank you so much for this forum.

My Passions:
literacy, education, children, justice, microfinancing, sustainability

My Challenges:
Though mobile, I struggle with multiple sclerosis.

My Vision for the Future:
transcending injustices of the world to nurture hope and create opportunity

My Areas of Expertise:
expert at little, but passionate about much
