Introducing myself and my journal: filmmor

About Me:
Filmmor Women’s Cooperative, established exclusively for women in 2003, is here to make movies, to raise objections, to produce, to dream and to realize for women together with women!
Objectives of Filmmor:
Filmmor has a clear target inside the organization and it has set very clear objectives in order to actively take place in the arena. These objectives can be stated as follows:
- To increase involvement of women in cinema and in the media, and to enhance the communication and production areas, opportunities and power of women to express themselves in this field.
- To disseminate non-sexist representation and experiences of women.
And naturally, Filmmor is dreaming of a life free of sexism, violence and discrimination in cinema, media and eventually in every field...
With this dream, Filmmor exerts efforts in campaigns that they organize in collaboration with women’s organizations an in Women’s Media Watch Group. Furthermore, they keep expressing and sharing views and dreams of women with visual tools through activities such as women’s films days, exhibitions in and out of Turkey.
Filmmor’s ongoing works are:
Atölyemor: Women’s Cinema Workshop:
Women acquire knowledge and experience on cinema, writing, producing and making films with our workshops, which they have been organizing since 2004 with various contents, from film critics to film production.
Filmmor Productions:
Since 2003, Filmmor produced 22 films with women, on women and for women, at different stages and experiences of womanhood and providing production support for women’s film projects.
International Filmmor Women's Film Festival on Wheels:
Festival, which starts from Istanbul and visits different cities in Turkey every year with only films directed by women, has been organized for eight years with various themes and activities. In 2011, 9th International Filmmor Women's Film Festival on Wheels will be organized on March 12-20 in Istanbul and then go on with travelling screenings in Antalya, Trabzon and Van.
