Introducing myself and my journal: Compassion and Change

About Me:
I am a mother of two, a lifelong environmentalist and have an environmental career. I have worked my whole life. I am involved in local environmental and political movements and have a vision for a more compassional world. Because we still live in a patriarchal society, I am also an active feminist. Although I grew up in the lively San Francisco Bay Area, my home today is in the beautiful Northern California Sierras, near the spectacular and special Yuba River.
I have been formally educated in International Relations, at Pomona College and Columbia University, and maintain an avid interest in the world, particularly in the developing world. Natural ecosystems, natural foods, and small-scale business is what I hope to see us return to, in this over-industrialized, over-crowded and despoiled world. Despite the bad news I read and blog about weekly, I am always stunned and humbled by the great beauty in our environment and the great kindness and compassion I see in people. I started a new blog this year, www.compassionandchange.com, in order to build and use my voice.
