International Year of the african descendents

The declaration of 2011 as the International Year of the african descendents is a tacit recognition of the historical process of exclusion, oppression and subordination has been the victim of the African people and their descendants in the Americas, following the establishment of a mercantilist economic model European policy of colonization of slavery.

That is why the 2011 celebrations should not be diluted in the Afro-trivial, although, dance, music, food, crafts and costumes are a key element of our cultural heritage, should not stand as the core characteristic and one-dimensional representationafrican descendents, there must be a year for trivial display of the exotic and different, and become a spectacle of subjects (as) black (as) for spectators (as) white (as).

The World Year of African descent and must be consolidated as the setting and opportunity to reminisce, visible and tell our story, unknown to many (as), even for us (as) themselves. More than a year to celebrate the african descendents should be a year to remember that the presence of Africans in the continent is not random, nor the product of a tourist activity or voluntary migration, is necessary to point as well say Fanon, the progressive \"burial cultural originality \"of our people brought about by colonialism.

Likewise, the emphasis should not be placed only in the commemoration of the liberation from colonization, we can not overlook the fact that this independence is generated as a social explosion in a continent historically oppressed, the people refuse to stay submissive to the whims of the French colonies, Spanish and Portuguese introduced with the start of the \"slave trade.\" Colonization was supported by the ideology of contempt for the black man, which sought to justify the expropriation of their lands and enslavement on their territory, dehumanizing African and african descendents as a means of legitimizing a historical oppression.

It then becomes relevant, the appropriation of this year by the people of African descent, the dismantling of racist speech \"hegemonic\" and the inclusion of our discourse traditionally conceived as peripheral.

The International Year of the african descendents should be an opportunity to democratize the african descendents, the people must take their struggle to realize the need for affirmation and recognition, the African struggle can not remain as before African elites sequestered in academic African intellectuals, the struggle of African descent must be a struggle actively participatory, accessible to all.

It is an opportunity to make proposals, to make ourselves heard by the states, to demand answers to our needs for political and civic participation, to demand the provision where there is not yet a legal framework to recognize and preserve the diversity of which we are part, as likewise aimed at ensuring the effective respect for our human rights so often marred.

A year to the promotion of self-recognition, self-affirmation and participation of African descent in these areas historically denied, it is time to understand and deconstruct the ideology of contempt, larceny and burglary from which we exploited for profit and empire building that we still oppress.

Depend on us (as) and our organization and collective creation of joint leaders of the alienation of the (as) people of African descent towards the eradication of racism, and African endorracismo exclusion.
