INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY: WHAT SHOULD IT MEAN TO WOMEN?

8th March is International Women's Day. A day where world over women are celebrated. The theme for this year is "Embrace Equity". What should this mean for women? From demanding equality all these years, we have to go a step further and create awareness and commitment in the world to understand and acknowledge women's unique circumstances and ensure we are given our due. While we talk about what the world needs to grow into, let us not forget our own responsibility to encourage, nurture, mentor, support and sustain other women.

I had an enriching experience from the rich interaction with over four hundred women leaders from diverse backgrounds and stellar achievements at Women Economic Forum (WEF) and Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI) 's Women's Day celebration in Bengaluru.

Meeting Founder Director of WEF and WICCI, Dr. Harbeen Arora Rai after six years felt like how sisters reunite - in love and warmth with kind things to say to each other. She had given me the WEF Iconic Women Award in Delhi in 2017. Her speech was moving as much as it was inspiring where she said , " Each woman has immense power and that power is exponential when women come together. Alone we are stars. Together we are rockstars."

My message for my soul sisters worldwide on Women's Day:

Here is wishing a happy Women's Day to all my soul sisters worldwide. Hope you spent the day to replenish your spirit in the company of 'your tribe' like I did.
